About Me
Ronnie Boudreaux was born in 1960 in New Orleans.

A native to and of New Orleans, Mr. Boudreaux has always believed in keeping his contribution to the local art community as ridiculous and positive as possible.  In addition to painting, Boudreaux has contributed vocals and lyrics to several bands including, Frizz, The Whore Moans, and Hinge.  He contributed stick figure drawings to "Tired" an art publication, and has also created a pathetic movie titled "A Star is Bored".

The following excerpt is from an article by Bob Ortega published in the Wall Street Journal...

In the mad world of art, "PATHETIC" is now ultra-trendy, and works that fit this description are turning up in chic galleries and influential art shows in America and Europe.  But what is pathetic?  Anything that looks simple-minded or inept-like badly rendered drawings or a metal basket jammed with beer cans.

Ralph Rugodd, a curator of shows around Los Angeles, coined the catchword two years ago when he brought together 11 artists in a show titled "Just Pathetic".  He defines it as art that delves into the feelings of failure, powerlessness and inadequacy that overwhelms people in a sociaety obsessed with success.  It rejects the idealism of high art.

Mr. Boudreaux, the New Orleans painter, had his pathetic epiphany two years ago in San Francisco.  Wandering through a modern art exhibit, it hit him that the works displayed looked too commercial, too perfect - too "tired", he says.

Back in New Orleans, he decided to start from scratch, adopting a "non-painterly, simple, stupid" approach.  The image may be simple, even stupid, but the concept is not, he insists.  If the viewers have to think to figure out why it is art, so much the better.
